In 2024 and 2025, Global Observatory of Higher Education Changes revitalized an earlier initiative (2003-2013) launched by the Center for International Higher Education at Boston College under the leadership of Professor Philip Altbach. This effort has culminated in the creation of a comprehensive global inventory of higher education research centers and degree-granting academic programs focused on higher education.
